Junior Roosters through to Finals

The NSWRL Junior Representative regular season has come to an end and in a major boost to the Roosters, both the Harold Matts and SG Ball sides have qualified for their respective 2014 Finals Series.

Our Under 16s (Harold Matts) will face off with arch-rivals the Rabbitohs after finishing 8^th, while our Under 18s (SG Ball) will meet the Penrith Panthers after they wrapped up the regular season in 3^rd position on the Ladder.

After finishing outside the Top 8 in both competitions last season, this year’s results have seen a huge turn around for the next generation of Roosters, a feat that Recruitment Manager Peter O’Sullivan is immensely proud of.

“I’m really proud of the Harold Matts boys this year and I’ve loved watching them compete each week in the competition,” he said.

“We’ve been outsized but have matched it with every team in the competition and while we finished 8^th with a bit of luck, we could have easily been in the Top 4,” continuing that, “They’re a wonderful side to watch and will leave no stone unturned in the semis.”

“On the other hand, the SG Ball side have won numerous games by a big space but have been beaten in the two close games that we’ve had, against Penrith and Balmain.”

“While this side has suffered numerous injuries, it is a team full of talent and if they play their best footy they are more than capable of going all the way.”

O’Sullivan concluded by saying, “Credit must go to the hard work of all involved with these two sides from the Head Coaches down, it’s been a huge effort this season by each individual but in saying that, nothing’s done yet and we’re looking forward to the Finals Series.”
