Luke Ricketson Cup 21st June 2016

The annual Luke Ricketson Cup, a day-long Rugby League tournament which sees Year 4-6 students from the local catholic schools within the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, battle it out in hopes of making it through to the State Finals, took place at Centennial Parklands last Tuesday.

With player appearances, goodie bags and prizes distributed at the conclusion of the event, all participants were left with smiles on their faces.

There were 14 teams battling it out, with hopes of winning the competition.

Among them were four girls teams which also participated in this event.

The winning junior and senior teams will have the chance to take on the winners of the Brad Fittler Shield, where the winner of that event will compete in the State Finals.

The winner of the junior competition was St Anthony's and the winner of the senior competition was St Margaret Mary's. We wish both teams the best of luck in the next round.

The students that participated in the event were treated to a visit from the man himself, Luke Ricketson, while Roosters player Jayden Nikorima was also on hand to cheer on the participants.

The pair took photos, signed autographs and presented the awards to the winners of both the junior and senior divisions.
