The Roosters were red hot to start the match, scoring back-to-back tries in the opening five minutes.

Bernard Lewis opened the scoring on the back of some nice left edge play and it was nicely followed up with a slick move from Paul Momirovski to score in his return from injury.

The momentum wouldn’t last long though, as the Sharks hit back through forward Daniel Vasquez in the ten minutes that followed.

They looked certain to go back-to-back, but a try saving tackle from Bernard Lewis on the wing would be just what the Roosters needed to maintain their early edge.

When it looked like the scoring had gone dry in the first half, Bernard Lewis chimed in to score his second of the night on the back of some nice lead-up work from Jackson Hastings.

An error in the following set would keep the Sharks right in it at the break though, with Isaac Lumelume taking advantage to run 60 metres and score.

The Sharks had all the momentum, and would take advantage on the back of a penalty in the following set through Jesse Savage, throwing the dummy and going himself between the uprights.

After snatching the lead heading into the break, the Sharks would carry on their momentum into the second stanza through winger Josh Tuilagi on the left edge.

Victor Radley was there to drag the Roosters back shortly though, finding some space on the back of the scrum feed to go himself on the left.

The Roosters would claw the lead back in the closing twenty minutes, when Hastings threw a nice ball to Kiah Cooper for him to barge over.

It wasn’t over yet though, as the Sharks would go over between the posts untouched again through Daniel Vasquez.

Fullback Will Kennedy pulled off a clever solo effort to make it a ten-point game in the closing stages.

Bernard Lewis claimed his hat-trick with three minutes remaining on the clock, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.
