NYC Match Report | Round 3

NYC-R3-Report-Lead

The NYC Grand Final rematch was an ugly affair for the young Roosters, being out-classed by the Panthers 12-32 on wet turf.

It was a mistake-riddled opening ten minutes for both sides in the slippery conditions, giving them minimal opportunities to get on the front foot.

The first opportunity would go to the Panthers early though, scoring through their five-eighth Dean Blore after finding some space on the left edge to sprint through the defence.

He would go on to score a second try less than ten minutes later after finding a stray pass from Sean O‚ÄôSullivan and bolting 70 metres to the line.

The Panthers were full of enthusiasm, and the young Roosters were struggling to get any attacking momentum in the first half.

Blore would go on to score a hat-trick for the Panthers in the opening stanza, making for a disappointing start for the Roosters.

It was looking very ugly after Panthers winger Daniel Brown strolled in on the corner untouched to close out the first half.

There was no improvement from the Roosters to start the second half, letting in three Panthers tries in the opening twenty minutes.

The Roosters would finally score through Josh Curran at the back end of the half to ensure they got on the board.

Panthers fullback Caleb Aekins scored near the death for the Panthers to make it a comfortable win and end the Roosters hot start with a thud.

Jesse Marschke scored for the Roosters right as the siren sounded.
