With just one month to go, the countdown is officially on until the Sydney Roosters host the Melbourne Storm in what’s sure to be a blockbuster encounter at the iconic Adelaide Oval.

The Round 16 encounter will be the first NRL match to be played in Adelaide since 2011.

Sydney Roosters Club Captain, Mitchell Aubusson, said that he was looking forward to the Roosters playing a home game in Adelaide next month.

“I had the pleasure of visiting Adelaide late last year when this fixture was announced. It was my first visit and I can’t wait to get back there,” said Aubusson.

“Adelaide Oval is one of Australia’s most famous grounds, and I’m sure the guys will be jumping out of their skins at the chance to play on such a special ground – I know I am,” he added.

The game will be played just three days after State of Origin Game II, giving the community in Adelaide an opportunity to watch some of the game’s elite players, including the respective New South Wales (Boyd Cordner) and Queensland (Cameron Smith) captains.

“This is a terrific opportunity to showcase rugby league and the Sydney Roosters to a growing rugby league fan base in Adelaide,” said Roosters CEO Joe Kelly.

“A number of community initiatives are being coordinated in the lead-up to the round, including a number of school visits as well as a free junior clinic featuring Anthony Minichiello to be held next week.”

“Roosters Members and fans, and those looking to experience rugby league for the first time, will also have an opportunity to engage with the Roosters players at an open training session to be held the day before the match,” he added.

Whether you are a local Rugby League fan keen to enjoy an NRL match in your own backyard, or a Sydney Roosters Member or supporter keen to cheer your side on, this game is not to be missed. Interstate travellers can also take advantage of the Saturday night timeslot and make a weekend of it, seeing the best that South Australia has to offer during your stay.

A special South Australian Sydney Roosters Membership is available, with Membership options for Adults, Concessions, Juniors and Families that include all the exclusive Membership benefits experienced by our full-season Members, as well as reserved tickets to the match in Adelaide.
