Season Review | Mitchell Aubusson

Mitchell Aubusson (also known as Mr. Reliable) was his usual self in 2017, though this time around he was able to tick a couple of things off his list at the conclusion of his 11th season at the Club.

The year started on a high for Aubusson when he was given the opportunity to Captain a young Roosters squad at the 2017 NRL Auckland Nines.

After an impressive run over the two day competition, the Roosters would come away from Auckland with our first Nines title and plenty of confidence leading into a new season.

The Nines would lead straight into NRL All Stars week for Aubusson, who played in the inaugural fixture for the first time alongside Captain Jake Friend.

Mitchell Aubusson didn’t miss a beat starting in the backrow for the Club, and would shuffle to the centres at the back-end of the season to cover for injury concerns.

A great honour would present itself for Aubusson early in the year when he was named as the Captain of the Country Origin side in the final City V Country battle by Roosters Assistant Coach Craig Fitzgibbon.

He appeared in 26 games, the second most of any Roosters player and was given the opportunity to Captain the side alongside Jared Waerea-Hargreaves in the absence of Captains Jake Friend and Boyd Cordner at the back end of the season.

Committed to the Club for years to come, we look forward to seeing what the Vice Captain has to offer in the upcoming 2018 season.
