After a solid back-end of his 2016 campaign, Daniel Tupou continued the good form to start the 2017 season.

He was given the opportunity to play a mentor-type role in Auckland for the first test of the year, helping lead a young Roosters side to their first NRL Auckland Nines title and scoring plenty of memorable four-pointers in the process.

Not only was he close to the Roosters best throughout the series, but he also scored the second most tries of the competition.

In the opening rounds of the NRL, Tupou was proving that to be one of the best and contributing in every stat category.

Whether it was running metres, tackle busts, offloads or runs, Tupou was always a willing contributor for his side.

Tupou sparked an incredible left edge combination with centre partner Latrell Mitchell, providing plenty of highlights and points for the Tricolours throughout the season.

In Round 4, Tupou would play in his 100th NRL match in the Tricolours against the South Sydney Rabbitohs and even scored a four-pointer in the milestone game.

His good form was rewarded with a long-term contract that will see him at the Club until at least the end of the 2021 NRL season.
