A beautiful day in Queens Park saw over 500 enthusiastic kids turn out for the annual Eastern Suburbs League Tag Gala Day.

Seven schools located in the Eastern Suburbs fielded an impressive 45 teams in the hotly contested event, with the winner claiming bragging rights as ‘Best in the East’ in the fast-growing sport.

The action was red hot and lightning fast, with twelve minute games ensuring speed and agility were key to victory.

Spectators were treated to plenty of thrills and skills.

Diving tries and desperate defence were the order of the day.

McAuley were able to topple Kincoppal Rose Bay in the Junior Girls final, while St Anthony’s were able to outplay Kincoppal Rose Bay to claim the Junior Boys title.

St Antony’s played consistently throughout the tournament and were able defeat Claremont to claim the Senior boys crown.

In the Senior girls decider, Kincoppal Rose Bay were too strong for St Charles in an exciting final game.

Sydney Roosters star Michael Gordon was on hand to present the winners with awards and to share advice on what it takes to be a top-class athlete.

Kids and parents alike took the opportunity to get a quick selfie with the popular Rooster!

Organisers would like to thank all the schools that competed and helped to make the day such a success, and look forward to seeing the tournament even bigger next year.
