Indigenous Programs

The Sydney Roosters is passionate about providing health and wellbeing opportunities through the game of Rugby League for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and has an ongoing commitment to promoting a more equitable and respectful society towards Indigenous culture and communities.

The Club is also committed to providing more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while simultaneously committing to engaging Roosters staff and players in cultural learning and immersion opportunities to deepen knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and achievements.

Rugby League Clinics and Wellbeing education sessions to areas of high Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young peoples in the Central Coast to encourage healthy and active lifestyles also continue to be a key area of commitment.

This commitment also extends to the Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy, an Under 19s women’s team that participates in the NSW Tarsha Gale Cup.

Sydney Roosters respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the land and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and future. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on.
