The Steggles Sydney Roosters Charity Nest has hit the magic two million dollar mark following yesterday’s round 16 match against the Gold Coast Titans at Central Coast Stadium.

The Roosters headed into the match requiring a one point winning margin to reach $2 million and surpassed that with the final 20 - 10 score line contributing $12,500 to the Charity Nest, taking the total amount raised for the Charity Nest to date to an incredible $2,011,835.

Established in 2010, the Charity Nest sees Steggles, major sponsor of the Sydney Roosters, donate $1000 for every point the Roosters beat the opposition by in 2015, while the Roosters contribute $250 per point.

The funds raised go towards supporting four children’s charities – Children’s Hospital Foundation Brisbane, Children’s Cancer Institute Australia, Lifestart and the Roosters Reach Out Program.

Steggles CEO Simon Camilleri said: “The Steggles Roosters Charity Nest is something we are immensely proud of. We’re also proud of the effort of the team so far this year, to help get us reach this incredible $2 million target.”

“It’s amazing to think that we’ve helped raise more than $2 million so far, and we will hopefully keep putting in strong performances and add to that tally throughout the rest of the year,” said Sydney Roosters captain, Jake Friend.

“Both Jake and I have been around since the Steggles Roosters Charity Nest began in 2010, and to have played a part in getting to $2 million is something we’re all so proud of. Our next target is $3 million so hopefully we’ll play our part in helping that tally continue to grow,” said Roosters captain Mitchell Pearce.

Contributions to the charities have helped fund a variety of important projects for these Children’s Charity Groups including; the building of Lifestart’s special playground for children living with a disability, funding scholarships for two PhD students working with the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia, cuddle carer program for the Children’s Hospital Foundation Brisbane and a number of community and charity requests through the Roosters Reach Out program.
