The Roosters have gone down to the Sharks in a nail-biter on Monday night at Allianz Stadium.

After James Maloney gifted the Roosters good field position with a penalty, a perfect kick from Pearce near the goal-line was put down by Gerrard Beale, cleaned up by Mitchell Aubusson and put down for the first points of the night.

On the back of an error from Dylan Napa from the kick off though, the Sharks would hit straight back through Valentine Holmes on the right wing.

He looked like he would go over again minutes later, but was cut down in a solid tackle from Connor Watson to force the error.

After Blake Ferguson was sin binned for a professional foul, the Sharks took full advantage on the right edge through Jack Bird to snatch back the lead.

The Roosters survived set after set on their goal-line, and were rewarded with a penalty to send them up-field.

It was Connor Watson that took full advantage in his first NRL start at five-eighth, finding a hole on the left edge and sprinting his way to the line.

Right before the half time siren, Luke Lewis ran a nice line to score for the Sharks between the uprights and take a lead going into the break.

Back-to-back tries for the Sharks to start the second half would see the Roosters hopes fade fast, with Chad Townsend and Sosaia Feki both scoring to make it an eighteen point lead.

The Roosters were not ready to lay down yet though, as a try from Dale Copley on the back of a nice short ball from Watson would come just minutes later.

They were denied a couple of tries in the back-end and were unable to capitalise over the next twenty minutes of play.

With ten minutes left on the clock though, Daniel Tupou was rewarded for a big night out with a four-pointer of his own to bring it to within a converted try.

On the last play of the game though, a fumble from Blake Ferguson would see Sosaia Feki sprint the length-of-the-field to seal the deal.
