An Auckland-born Ponsonby junior, Iosia Soliola represented the Junior Kiwis against the Junior Kangaroos in 2003 before joining the Roosters in 2004. He captained the Junior Kiwis against England Under-18s in 2004 and featured in the Roosters' Premier League grand final victory, coached by Ivan Cleary, two months after turning 18.
He broke into the Roosters' NRL line-up in the opening round of 2005, cementing a spot in the centres, where he stayed for five seasons. A Kiwis call-up came just two months after his 20th birthday, featuring in all five of their 2006 Tri Nations matches in the centres. He went on to play 12 tests for the Kiwis, whilst at the Roosters.
At the Roosters he featured in just one semi final series, in 2008, when the Roosters lost both finals matches. He was famously knocked out by Ruben Wiki in the semi final in Auckland against the Warriors. At the Roosters he was centre of the highest calibre before moving into the forwards later in his career.
After leaving the Roosters he spent five seasons at St Helens (2010 - 2014), mainly in the second row, winning a title in 2014, and seven seasons at Canberra (2015 - 2021), primarily as a prop, where he won a Ken Stephen Medal and played in a Grand Final against the Roosters (both in 2019).
