Shaun Kenny-Dowall first played Jersey Flegg Cup for the Roosters in 2005 after graduating from the Clovelly junior club. In 2006 he played in the NSW Cup Grand Final for Newtown (Roosters feeder club at the time) and in 2007 made his first grade debut. He would play thirteen seasons of senior League at the Roosters, eleven in first grade. He made his test debut in 2007 and amongst the 21 tests he played for the Kiwis, he was member of their victorious 2010 and 2014 Four Nations Final teams. In 2010 Kenny-Dowall was the RLIF Centre of the Year and the NZ Player of the Year. In that season he was the competition’s equal leading try scorer with 21 tries, playing in all 28 Rooster games and his form was a key factor in the Roosters reaching the 2010 Grand Final.
Kenny-Dowall didn’t miss a game either through 2013 and 2014 seasons, and in the 2013 Grand Final he scored the try that took the Roosters into the lead (with the conversion), despite playing the bulk of the game with a broken jaw. In 2014 he was judged the Roosters Clubman of the Year. On leaving the Roosters, Kenny-Dowall sat in the top ten for first grade appearances for the Club with 224, and sat second for most first grade tries, with 124.
After leaving the Roosters Kenny-Dowall played three seasons at the Newcastle Knights (2017-2019) and Hull Kingston Rovers in the ESL (2020-23).
