Jared Waerea-Hargreaves joined the Roosters in 2010, after playing in 4 of his 33 test matches for New Zealand in the off season prior to becoming a Rooster. Playing fifteen seasons in first grade as a Rooster (only Ray Stehr has played more seasons of first grade at the Club), Waerea-Hargreaves was the most capped first grade player in Roosters history at the time of his retirement, and just the fourth at the time to have played 300 first grade Club games.
He played in four grand finals and was an integral part of three grand final wins. Waerea-Hargreaves was arguably the best on ground in the 2019 Grand Final and in recognition of just how good he was in 2018 and 2019 he was also judged the NZRL Player of the Year for both of those seasons. Waerea-Hargreaves also won the Jack Gibson Medal in 2012 and was Roosters Clubman of the Year in both 2012 and 2017, a season in which he played all 26 matches. In 2013 he was judged the Members Player of the Year and was awarded the Club’s Our Community Award. Whilst he only captained the Roosters on limited occasions, he was a team leader for most of his career and was regarded by both team mates and opponents alike as one the game’s greatest prop forwards.
