Shaun Kenny-Dowall has spoken about the importance of the next two weeks in the lead up to the Sydney Roosters Round 1 blockbuster against arch-rivals South Sydney, to open the 2013 NRL season.

The Kiwi centre, who last night played in his first match for the Tricolours this year after being rested for the Bluetongue Stadium trial against the Sea Eagles, has told Roosters.com.au that the group will being use the remaining days in the pre-season to put the final touches onto the sides structures and iron out the issues before they face the Bunnies on March 7.

It was good to get a win and build some confidence, for the whole group, heading into Round 1 in just a few weeks time.

The next two weeks are very important. For us, as a group, they are about putting the final touches on our structures and getting all the little things right, that we know we need to work on after our two trial matches.

Kenny-Dowall took to the field last night alongside fellow returning-stars Mitchell Pearce and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves in the Roosters 28-16 victory over the Tigers to re-claim the Foundation Cup, however it wasnt his first match for the calendar year after representing the Roosters in the annual All Stars clash earlier this month.

Playing alongside new recruit and fellow centre Michael Jennings for the first time, Kenny-Dowall also spoke of the noticeable difference out in the middle as a part of the new-look squad.

You can definitely notice the difference out in the middle, with the new guys coming in and the younger guys getting a chance this season, he said.

The New Zealand centre, with a smile, then added that he was also definitely glad that they're on our side and not the opposition.

We cant agree more, SKD!
