On the 12th of April on a beautiful autumns day the NRL and Sydney Roosters held their sevens Legend gala day at Centennial Park Parade Grounds. The Government schools participated in the Brad Fittler Shield while the Catholic and Independent schools participated in the Luke Ricketson Shield.

From last year events there were a most pleasing number of teams that particpated this year. In 2012 we had only 18 teams year and only two teams in the Luke Ricketson competition. In 2013 we had 30 teams all up that included 21 Brad Fittler and 9 Luke Ricketson teams.

The Brad Fittler Shield in both the junior and Senior competition the students from Clovelly really came out to play on the day and won both grades. The Luke Ricketson Shield had the two teams from Holy Cross Woollahra make the finals with their A team getting on top of the B team in the end. In the Senior Luke Ricketson competition it was a great display from St Anthonys Clovelly School beating the Kincoppal Rose Bay the Premiers from the previous year. Adrian Lam son Bailey Lam was the standout of the day making St Anthonys Clovelly undefeated in that competition.

There was over 350 students from year 9-12 who took part in the day. It was enjoyed from all teachers, parents and children.

Special mention to our guests Brad Fittler and Luke Ricketson who came out on the day watched the games and hand out the prizes and shields to the winning teams. Also Brad Fittler provided fruit for all students as part of a healthy lifestyle the Sydney Roosters have with schools in the Eastern Suburbs.

Clovelly Public School and St Anthonys Clovelly will play for the Arthur Beetson Cup at Allianz Stadium on May 25th to determine who will represent the Sydney Roosters and the NRL Legends Day.
