The Roosters vice-captain has been named in Laurie Daley's match day squad for next Wednesday's Origin decider, with the NSW Coach announcing that the backrower will replace Josh Reynolds on the bench.

Cordner was named in an extended squad last week, as cover for Greg Bird, however it was the injury to Paul Gallen that saw him brought into the side with the NSW selectors deciding that they needed the 'size' on the bench to cover for the skipper.

Reynolds will return to NRL duty with the Bulldogs this weekend before again joining the squad as 18th man, while Aaron Woods will take Gallen's place in the front row.

Cordner began the year with less than 30 NRL games but after making over 400 tackles and over 150 hit-ups so far in 2013, inexperience meant little as the Country RL representative was named alongside some of his childhood heroes to be a part of one of Origin's biggest games in recent years.

It's assumed that Cordner will play both in the middle and down the left edge, both places he has been dominant in the Tricolours so far in 2013.
