The Sydney Roosters fought hard in difficult conditions before going down 8-0 to Manly at Allianz Stadium.

In a typical grinding encounter between the two clubs, both sides threw everything at the opposition but it was Manly who come up trumps on this occasion.

Fluency in attack was what cost the Tricolours in the end with the slippery conditions providing an issue throughout the match.

A lopsided penalty count also played it's part as the Roosters lost at Allianz for the first time this year.

Cheyse Blair scored the winner for the visitors, latching on to the end of a rare crisp back line movement from either side.

A penalty goal right on the full time extended the final margin to eight points.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves was put on report in the match for a high shot but it was the defensive intensity that this game will be remembered for.

Both sides gave little away and it the end it was Blair's finish that was the only real difference between the two clubs.
