The Sydney Roosters extend their condolences to the family and friends of Patrick Byrne, who passed away last week.

A talented rugby league player, Patrick played for the Roosters in the mid-1990s, appearing in two grand finals with the club’s President’s Cup (under 21s) side, including 1993 – the year the Roosters claimed the President’s Cup title.

Patrick also played for the Coogee Dolphins Rugby League club, and later held the position of Coogee Dolphins Rugby League President.

He was awarded the Australian Bravery Medal in 2008 for his heroic efforts in the Bali Bombings of 2002.

Patrick was a passionate rugby league supporter and much-loved local identity, and will be sadly missed.
