New recruit Matt McIlwrick has told Roosters Online of his excitement at finally representing the Tricolours after his first meeting with Members at the side's Townsville Meet and Greet in the lead up to our Round 1 win over the North Queensland Cowboys.

Now a member of the elusive group of players to have played for the Eastern Suburbs side, McIlwrick joins the list of those to have been a part of the only Club to have featured in every season.

The former Raiders rake couldn't hide his thrill at having been accepted as one by the Roosters faithful.

"It's one of the first meetings I've had with the Roosters Members and they're certainly a passionate bunch," McIlwrick said with a smile.

"Even up here in North Queensland, they're so passionate about the Roosters Club. The history is so rich and I totally understand why there is such a passion for the place amongst the Members."

"I was excited about turning out in the Tricolours for the first time but now even more so for every single week than before having spent time with the Members that'll be in the stands cheering us on."

We're sure there as equally excited at your arrival too Matt!
