The Sydney Roosters were honoured to host Australia’s Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and his wife Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove, at last night’s game against the Melbourne Storm.

A keen observer of the NRL, the Governor-General was raised in the eastern suburbs where he attended Waverley College and grew up supporting the Roosters.

"It was a huge honour to meet the Governor-General and his wife Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove, at last night’s game against the Melbourne Storm," said Roosters legend Anthony Minichiello.

"The Governor-General grew up supporting the Roosters - or Eastern Suburbs as they were known back then - and briefly visited the sheds at the end of the game. Pleasingly, the boys put in a strong performance against the Storm as well," added Minichiello.

The Roosters defeated the Storm 24-2 to close out Round 12 of the NRL.

The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were joined in this photo by Anthony Minichiello and Roosters Directors Luke Ricketson, Mark Fennessy and Mark McInnes.
