The young Roosters have gone down 12-30 to the Parramatta Eels in the Holden Cup after a tough night out at Pirtek Stadium.
The Eels started off hot, scoring back-to-back tries after ten minutes of play.
The first would come from fullback Mason Cerruto after making a clean break to sprint for the line, and the next one through winger Jermaine Mati-Leifi after plucking a well placed bomb from the air.
After a couple of missed opportunities in attack, the Eels would capitalise to make it an 18-point deficit at the break through halfback Troy Dargan between the uprights.
It was evident that the young Roosters were having trouble crossing the line, and their multiple efforts were left with no reward against a tough Eels outfit.
There would be for them though, as a loose ball from Jesse Marschke found its way to the hands of James Gammidge for a runaway try to start the second half.
The tussle went back-and-forth, but the Roosters were unable to make an impact in attack to get back into it.
Wetere Pompey and Reuben Porter scored in the final ten minutes to ensure the young Roosters didn’t go home empty handed.
