NRL Premiership
- Round 26
- Brisbane Broncos V Sydney Roosters
- 01 September 2016
- Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Qld
- Scott Davis

In the final game of the season, the Roosters have fallen short to the Broncos in a tight and entertaining battle at Suncorp Stadium.

The Roosters were in early when former Bronco Dale Copley found himself on the receiving end of a bomb from Pearce to collect and slam it down between the uprights.

They spent the majority of the first half showing plenty of enthusiasm, and in the final fifteen minutes it would be converted into points through Connor Watson.

Mitchell Pearce did well to get an offload away to Captain Jake Friend, Friend got it to Sam Moa and Moa passed to Watson to send him between the uprights.

The Broncos were not ready to lay down though, scoring back-to-back tries to close out the opening stanza.

Anthony Milford scored first on the back of a big run from Corey Oates, and James Roberts scored the next after Daniel Tupou had an unfortunate fumble at the back.

The second half started well for the Broncos, who had all the energy in the first half.

After finding the Roosters defensive line thin on the left edge, Jordan Kahu opened the scoring in the second half to gain the lead for the first time in the game.

A freakish effort from James Roberts to sprint down the sideline and kick inside to Kahu for his second would seal the deal for the Broncos.
