On the back of winning the Holden Cup Grand Final with the Under 20s Roosters side, Joseph Manu found himself in another first grade pre-season leading into the 2017 NRL season.
With a backline that is already stacked with talent, it was unknown as to whether or not Manu would line-up with the NRL side to start the season.
He would travel with the team to the Gold Coast for their clash with the Titans, but wouldn't make his season debut until Round 3 against the Penrith Panthers.
In Round 7 Manu scored his first NRL career try against the Newcastle Knights in what was an impressive outing for the young centre.
Though he finished the season with the Wyong Roos in reserve grade, Manu took some critical steps towards sealing a spot in the starting line-up for many years to come in what was a good year for him.
