Key Match-Ups | Roosters v Sea Eagles

Sydney Roosters new recruit James Tedesco will go up against Manly's young gun Tom Trbojevic on Saturday night in a battle of all-star fullbacks.

Both players had excellent seasons in 2017 for their respective Clubs which earned them elite representative selection throughout the season.

Although Trbojevic didn't make the cut to play State Of Origin, there's no doubt that he will make his way into a blue jumper long before his career is up.

They boast a similar playing style, with both fullbacks fond of passing the ball, while also boasting blinding speed.

Tedesco will play a large role in the Roosters chances, while Trbojevic could be the Sea Eagles number one strike weapon.

A battle between elite play-makers, Cooper Cronk has a challenge on his hands when he goes up against fellow halfback Daly Cherry-Evans.

Cronk will be looking to gel with his new teammates, while on the other hand Cherry-Evans will be looking to continue his good form from last season.

These two are no strangers to each other either, having played together at representative level and facing-off against each other in a number of epic battles over the years.

It should be no different for the playmakers on Saturday night.

Both are locks turned into props, Siosiua Taukeiaho has a literal large battle on his hands when he goes face-to-face with Martin Taupau.

Taukeiaho was unable to play in the Community Cup pre-season fixture last year due to injury and will relish the opportunity to play some footy ahead of Round 1.

He and Taupau play a similar style to each other in the sense that they can both do a lot of damage with their size and speed.

Now filling out the prop position, the pair will need to be at their barnstorming best if they're to make an impact.

Taukeiaho has his work cut out for him, but there's little doubt that he'll be up for the big ask.
