Red Hot Roosters Down Sea Eagles

The young Roosters were impressive on the Central Coast on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles Jersey Flegg squad 36-26.

They were on fire in the opening minutes and it was quickly rewarded with points.

Sam Verrills was too quick and crafty out of dummy-half close to the line, catching the Sea Eagles defenders off guard to score a well-earned early try.

The Sea Eagles managed to capture some momentum to force a couple of repeat sets over the Roosters.

Those sets were eventually rewarded with points when big lock forward Jordan Main barged his way over to level the scores.

The Sea Eagles would make it back-to-back tries in the following set through John Tuivati after a barging effort sent him over between the uprights.

Lyndon Hills wasn’t willing to let this one slip away, and some great individual work would see him score for the Roosters just minutes later.

That would see the Roosters go on to score back-to-back tries, this time through winger Tyrell Neufi on the back of some clever set-up play from fullback Treymain Spry.

Just shy of the break, the Sea Eagles would go over on the right wing through Alfred Smalley after a Roosters error put them into prime position.

The Roosters were unwilling to give up at the break though, in particular Josh Curran when he kicked off a break just seconds from the siren which lead to the Roosters scoring through Tyrell Neufi for his second of the afternoon.

There were some changes to the squad in the second half, but it didn’t stop the Roosters from continuing to roll on.

They scored back-to-back tries through young gun Fletcher Baker early on to push their lead out to fourteen points.

The Sea Eagles showed a mountain of fight at the back end of the half and ended up scoring through five-eighth Luke Metcalf after he split the defence and sprinted between the uprights.

Before they could do any more damage though, halfback Tom Steadman topped off a nice performance with a four-pointer for the Roosters after he pounced on a loose grubber.

The Sea Eagles scored a consolation on the full time siren to bring it to within ten points.
