In 1908, the sport of rugby league was launched in Australia.
Then known as the New South Wales Rugby Football League, the inaugural premiership was contested between eight Sydney-based teams and one team from Newcastle.
Known as the ‘foundation clubs’ today, these nine teams battled against one another during the formative years of the sport.
Fast forward to 2018 and only two of the foundation clubs remain. The Sydney Roosters and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Over the years the two clubs have built the fiercest of rivalries. Roosters vs the Rabbitohs has always been, and always will be, a classic battle.
