Young Roosters Snatch Gutsy Victory

The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg squad have claimed a gutsy come-from-behind 32-24 Round 20 win over the Dragons to kick off the Allianz Stadium triple header in style.

Tristan Sailor opened the scoring in the opening set of the game for the Dragons to catch the Roosters off guard early.

The Roosters were off to a shaky start, but it didn't take them long to compose and come together to score a nice team try through Sam Verrils.

In what was turning into a back-and-forth tussle, Tristan Sailor went over for his second of the afternoon for the Dragons after taking a bomb on the full and planting it down between the uprights.

It was a case of deja vu in the minutes to follow as Sailor went over for his third of the half in an IDENTICAL try to the one he scored prior.

The Roosters did well to hit back in a long range effort through Tyrell Neiufi and bring the scores within four, only for the Dragons to score out wide on the siren through winger Jason Gillard.

It didn't take long for the Roosters to re-enter the back and forth when Lachlan Lam made a break up the middle to carve up the Dragons defence and score on the right edge.

They snatched the lead from them minutes later through a Sam Verrills double between the uprights.

Lachlan Lam capped off a nice afternoon with a second try of the afternoon after sprinting to the wing for the put-down, only for the Dragons to claw back and bring it to within two with five minutes left on the clock.

The Dragons looked like scoring to snatch a late lead, only for the Roosters to turn defence into perfect attack and score a length of the field try through Adam Pompey at the death to claim a solid victory.
