Harold Matthews Roosters Fall To Knights

The Sydney Roosters Harold Matthews squad were in for a long drive up the freeway on Saturday for a clash with the Newcastle Knights on their home turf.

They were coming off a good win in Round 2 and looked very confident in the warm up ahead of kick off.

It wasn’t a great start for the young Roosters, conceding a try in the first minute of the match on the left edge.

From that point onwards, the Knights had all the momentum and would go on to score four tries in the first half.

In the back end of the opening stanza, there was a great effort from Kayde King to turn and spin from Alan Holten and throw a short ball close to the line to hit back before the break.

The Knights started the second half as well as they did the first and hit back scoring some points on the Roosters.

The Roosters tried hard to fight back, but the Knights were too strong on this occasion.

A lot of key areas to improve on going into round 4 against the Bulldogs at home this week.

S.G. Ball Roosters Fall Short In Tight Contest

The Sydney Roosters SG Ball squad were looking for their second win of the season coming after a tough loss in Round 2.

They started the match well, pushing their way up the field and showing some attacking flair in the early stages.

The Roosters were able to get some repeat sets in the early stages, but weren’t able to capitalise on them.

The Knights received a couple of penalties and marched their way up the field and went on to use that momentum to score three tries in the first twenty six minutes of the match.

After surviving the early on-slaught, the Roosters were able to hit back before half time with a powerful run close to the line from replacement forward Toesami Toevai.

They had the momentum heading into the break and were able to come out with some energy after the break.

The Roosters scored twice in the first twenty minutes of the half to tie the game up.

A memorable four-pointer came from a great kick behind the line from Bailey Hayward which Newcastle fumbled and Tallis Duncan dived on to score.

Newcastle managed to score next and final points to collect a win in a tight contest.

The Roosters will look to bounce back next week when they take on the Bulldogs.
