Roosters Honour War Hero

Corporal Cameron Baird was honoured by the Sydney Roosters on Anzac Day in a touching tribute at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Corporal Baird sadly passed away in 2013 during a battle with insurgents while serving in Afghanistan.

He was awarded with the Victoria Cross Medal after his passing, as well as the Medal for Gallantry in 2007 for his brave response in a search and clearance operation .

He was known for being a lover of sport, but also for being fond of the Sydney Roosters.

The Roosters presented Cameron's father Doug Baird with a signed 2018 Roosters Premiership jersey in what was a moving presentation.

He delivered the 2019 Anzac Cup on field pre-match alongside Roosters legend Anthony Minichiello and Roosters NRLW player Simaima Taufa.
