Harold Matthews fall short late

The Sydney Roosters took on the Canberra Raiders (18-24) in Round four of the Harold Matthews Cup at Henson Park on Saturday.

After overcoming a tough game last week, Roosters five-eighth Josh Durkin scored the opening try of the match just ten minutes into the game.

Shortly after, Roosters prop Kakile Leha scored the second try, converted by halfback Brent Hawkins giving the team that needed confidence boost to kick off the game.

With some errors and missed short sight opportunities, the Roosters still managed to keep their advantage throughout the first half as they headed into the second stanza with a 14-6 advantage. 

It seemed to be the perfect day for the Roosters when Sarfati extended their advantage to 18-6 but the visitors weren't done.

They produced brilliant a comeback from eight points down to seal a 24-18 victory. 

It was another tough day for the Roosters but there is still time to improve throughout the competition.

Sydney Roosters stay undefeated in the S.G Ball Cup

With a strong finish, Sydney Roosters defeated the Canberra Raiders  (40-26) in round four of the S.G Ball Cup at Henson Park on Saturday. 

To start of the game, the Raiders were pushing to gain advantage scoring two tries in a row.

But only shortly after, the Roosters started to find their grounds in the game and gained more possession of the ball. 

A brilliant solo run by Roosters centre Jordan Swann on the left wing led to their first try of the game, followed by a try by centre Corey Ross who jumped to contest the grubber on the right wing. 

Swann and Ross weren’t the only Roosters to put in a dominant performance, with lock Tallis Duncan and fullback Moala Graham-Taufa scoring tries in the second half. 

The visitors didn’t have many chances to get any meaningful ball throughout the second half and were dominated by the Roosters. 

Playing a strong game, the Roosters recorde a comfortable victory over the Raiders and are heading into the next round undefeated.
