Match Preview | Roosters v Rabbitohs

The Sydney Roosters are set for a rivalry return to action in Round 3 when they take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs for a blockbuster to kick off the competition resumption.

While there will be no crowd to soak in the atmosphere of the greatest rivalry, there's no denying the intensity and passion of a battle between the two foundation clubs in the competition.

This will be the first of two matches between the two clubs this year, with the winner of the two games combined claiming the Ron Coote Cup.

Friday night will mark the first time the two clubs have faced off at Bankwest Stadium and the first time the Roosters will face off against former representative Latrell Mitchell.

While the Roosters are hunting their first two points of the Telstra Premiership season, the Rabbitohs will look to get back on track after a narrow loss to the Broncos in Round 2.
