For this week's Memorable Clash, we take you back to Round 3 of the 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership season for what was a good old fashioned nail-biter at Panthers Stadium.
Panthers v Roosters | Round 3, 2017
While the Panthers started the match with just about all of the momentum, the Roosters did well to flex their defensive muscles and hang on through repeated sets under pressure.
Despite an excellent defensive start, the Panthers would eventually break through via Tyrone Peachey on the back of a flick pass from Matt Moylan.
The Roosters hit back with back-to-back efforts late in the half through Michael Gordon and Latrell Mitchell to push their way in front heading into the break.
The Panthers hit two penalty goals in the second half to edge their way in front, despite the Roosters outscoring them two tries to one.
Late in the match and with time starting to fight against them, it would take some backline brilliance from Daniel Tupou and Michael Gordon to edge the Roosters in front in the closing minutes.
The match ended with arguably the best defensive effort of the year from the Roosters and ensured that the Tricolours headed home with two competition points.
