Talking Points | Finals Week One

With plenty of excitement surrounding the Tricolours heading into week one of the NRL Finals series and NRLW season, let's go over the top Talking Points.

A WEEK ONE SELL OUT

With the effect of COVID-19 on rugby league stadiums in Australia, tickets to the Roosters battle with the Penrith Panthers at Panthers Stadium sold out in the first Members pre-sale window on Monday afternoon.

Pre-sale tickets went on sale to Ticketed Members at 10am on Monday morning and were all sold within an hour and a half of the pre-sale window.

The NRLW Roosters squad's game one clash against the Dragons will be the curtain raiser to Saturday's triple header at GIO Stadium, which has also reached capacity.

Members and fans are advised to tune into the match via the broadcast on Channel Nine, Fox League, NRL Live Pass or Kayo Sports.

COMBINATION AND CONNECTION

With the return of forwards Isaac Liu and Lindsay Collins this week, the Roosters find themselves with a full strength forward pack heading into tonight's Qualifying Final.

While the next man up mentality has once again been ever present in 2020, having a full strength forward pack back together will make a big difference with their connection and combinations during the most important part of the NRL season

"It's definitely going to be a big challenge. They've got some experienced forwards there, big boys," Isaac Liu said.

"But again the focus is on ourselves and making sure our forward pack is ready, combinations are right, our connection is good."

NRLW EXCITEMENT

With less than 24 hours until the Roosters NRLW side takes to the field against the Dragons for game one of the new season, there's plenty of excitement and anticipation within the Roosters community.

With the addition of Charlotte Caslick, the experience of head coach Jamie Feeney and a promising squad in 2020, it's safe to say that we're heading into the most anticipated NRLW season yet.

As the squad prepares for kick off tomorrow, there's an excitement within the playing group that's been infectious throughout Roosters HQ and the wider Tricolours community.

"We definitely have a wealth of experience and key girls that will be able to lead us around, but then having girls that haven't played as much might leave a bit of unknown for other teams," new recruit Charlotte Caslick said.

"We might be able to surprise them by not having all our cards out there, we've got some hidden away."

MANU MAGIC RETURNS TO PANTHERS STADIUM

There's a lot to like about the return of Joseph Manu tonight, with his last outing at Panthers Stadium providing plenty of memorable moments to kick off the 2020 season.

Manu is fit and firing after not being selected in Round 20, and will look to re-ignite his stellar form for the back end of the season.

"We're taking it day-by-day and preparing well, working on the things we need to work on," Manu said.

"I think we've got to work on what we're good at. I felt like our defence, when we were rolling, was pretty good.

"If we can just get back to how we normally defend, we'll be firing for Friday."
