Roosters focused on Roosters as Grand Final rehearsal looms

With back-to-back Broncos battles on the horizon for the Sydney Roosters, the NRLW squad are solely focused on themselves in a bid to be playing their best football over the next two weeks.

Their final training session before kick off for game three wrapped up on Thursday night, and it's safe to say there was no complacency from the Roosters women.

Simaima Taufa and Hannah Southwell are likely to be rested this week, yet they were still out on the paddock putting in the work in order to stay prepared for the Grand Final.

“We’ve just been concentrating on ourselves," said Assistant Coach Kylie Hilder.

“We’re not too worried about the opposition, we just know that if we worry about how we’re playing and the style that we’re playing that we’re pretty confident.

“Everything’s coming off, we’re coming up with wins which is awesome.”

A unique opportunity presents itself this week, somewhat of a dress rehearsal before the big stage clash next Sunday afternoon at ANZ Stadium.

With the Roosters and Broncos both locking in two wins respectively and the Warriors and Dragons not registering a win, a date for the NRLW Grand Final was made official before preparations for game three had even begun.

This is not only a credit to the form of the Roosters in 2020, but to the unity within the squad.

“What I’ve found this year is that the girls are so close.

“We really made it an importance that we have the girls as a family, and we’ve worked hard off the field to make sure we’re all one.

“The girls want to be here for each other, they all want to be a part of it.

“It’s a really good feeling around the Club.”

Charlotte Caslick was officially ruled out for the remainder of the NRLW season, but that hasn't stopped the Roosters from persisting with their top quality training and game planning heading into the final two games of the competition.

Shanice Parker filled in for Charlotte when she was forced from the field in game two, and will now look to take the reigns for the two games to follow.

“As much as we’re gonna hate not having Charlotte there, we’ve got quality players at this club.

“Shanice will step up really well."

There will be some changes to the line-up for game three, though the Roosters Grand Final team will likely be different to the side that lines up this Saturday afternoon.

According to Kylie Hilder though, that's far from an issue when the players in the team know exactly what their role is.

Everyone’s got a role, if you do your role then we’ll all work together as a team.
