Angus Crichton On our Round 1 Opening Match

Coming off a strong performance in the side's trial win against the Canberra Raiders, backrower Angus Crichton says he is looking forward to seeing the Roosters faithful in force.

“Round 1 is always exciting. Everyone’s raring to go and get the season underway," he said.

“With Manly there’s obviously a bit of history there, and at the SCG you never have to fabricate anything to get up to play there.

“It’s such an iconic ground, there’s been so many great players in so many different sports who have graced those stands and the field before us, and it’s always an honour to play there.

“Come out and support us. We missed having Members and fans there last year and you guys make the difference. It’s exciting with things easing so we can get you guys back in the stands, so we’d love to see you out there."

Outside back Matt Ikuvalu stated his claim to earn a starting berth in 2021, and was excited to get back onto the SCG turf in our first game of the season.

“It’s amazing playing there,” he said.

“Knowing Round 1 is going to be there, it will be massive for us as a team to put a stake in the ground and say ‘we aren’t going to lose here’, and we’ll be looking to do that.

“Get around us. Celebrate the start of the season with us. We’ll be going out with the intent of putting on a show for the Members and fans and do our best to win."

New signing Adam Keighran says he is looking forward to the opportunity of pulling on the famous Red, White and Blue at a ground that has seen the side win 14 of their last 18 matches.

“I remember coming to play here against the Roosters and it’s a daunting feeling against the Roosters in itself, but to play in the colours it’s going to be something special," Keighran said.

“Get excited. There’s big things ahead for us this year, everyone’s bought into the pre-season and everyone is getting their combinations as we saw in the trials. Be excited, get ready for it."
