Seniors Report Round 7: Bears and Roosters Bested by Dragons

Both the North Sydney Bears and Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side were bested by the St George Illawarra Dragons last weekend in their Round 7 match ups.

Following their first-round bye, the Central Coast Roosters will take the field for the first time in the 2022 Harvey Norman Women's Premiership as they face the Wests Tigers at Morry Breen Oval at 1pm on Sunday afternoon.

Bears Suffer First Defeat of 2022 to Dragons

The North Sydney Bears were handed their first defeat of the 2022 season to the St George Illawarra Dragons 30-14 at North Sydney Oval.

The visitors struck twice in the first five minutes in a disappointing start to the match, and although Tom Carr bagged yet another try to begin his season, the Dragons scored three times before the break to take a 26-4 halftime lead.

St George Illawarra scored again ten minutes from the break to extend their lead, before Lachlan Lam and Vuate Karawalevu put their names on the scoresheet, however it was too late with the final scoreline reading 30-14 to the Dragons.

The North Sydney Bears will take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs this Saturday afternoon at Accor Stadium prior to the NRL match between the Sydney Roosters and the Bulldogs.

Roosters Beaten by Dragons in Corrimal

The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side have been defeated by the St George Illawarra Dragons 24-12 at Collegians Sporting Complex in Wollongong.

Luke Knight opened the scoring for the Roosters in the sixth minute in a positive start for the Tricolours, but three consecutive tries to the Dragons handed an 18-6 lead going into the sheds.

The Red, White and Blue closed the deficit to six points with a converted four-pointer to Tayson Fakaosi, but their opponents landed the final blow just a few minutes from the break to claim the two competition points.

The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side will play the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon before the NRL match at Accor Stadium.
