Seniors Report: Central Coast Edged in Thriller

The Central Coast Roosters have gone down in their second game of the 2023 Harvey Norman Women's Premiership after being edged 14-12 by Mounties.

After an impressive win last week, the Roosters failed to overcome a slow start at Morry Breen Oval in Wyong.

After a hard-fought opening 20 minutes, Mounties grabbed two crucial tries in the shadows of half time to enter the sheds with an 8-0 lead.

The visitors added a third through Elianna Walton just after the break, with Matilda Power kicking a crucial conversion to give her side a commanding 14-0 lead.

The Roosters rallied soon after, scoring three unanswered tries, including a double to winger Jorja Holden.

Goal kicking ended up being all that separated the two sides, with the Roosters missing an opportunity to draw level after Joeli Morris crossed with 11 minutes to go.

The Roosters will look to bounce back next week when they face last year's runners up Cronulla in their first away game of the season.
