Pilot Medical Update: Round 1

The Sydney Roosters squad has been assessed by Club medical staff following their opening round clash with the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium.

Matt Lodge and Victor Radley were both taken from the field for Head Injury Assessments (HIA) during Sunday’s game and were unable to return.

On Tuesday morning, Lodge underwent surgery on an upper facial fracture, with an anticipated recovery period of six weeks.

Radley has been progressing through the return to play protocols with the Club’s medical department and will undergo independent review this week.

Brandon Smith was taken from the field for a HIA during Sunday’s game. The hooker passed the assessment and is being closely monitored in the lead-up to Saturday’s match with the New Zealand Warriors.

Meanwhile, Roosters forward Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is tracking well in his recovery from a lower back flare-up.

There were no other injury concerns for the players that featured in the match.
