NRL Judiciary Update: Butcher and Smith Enter Pleas

The Sydney Roosters have submitted their pleas for Nat Butcher and Brandon Smith after the two were cited for incidents that occurred in the Roosters' Round 7 clash with the Sharks. 

The Club has entered an early guilty plea in relation to a Grade Two Dangerous Contact charge on Nat Butcher. As a result, Butcher will be unavailable for one match.

In relation to the Grade One Careless High Tackle charge on Brandon Smith, the Club has elected to enter an early guilty plea. As a result, Smith will receive a monetary penalty of $3000 and will be available for selection for the Roosters' Round 8 ANZAC Day match with the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Following the Sydney Roosters Round 7 match against the Cronulla Sharks, Nat Butcher and Brandon Smith have been cited by the NRL Match Review Committee.

Butcher was issued with a Grade Two Dangerous Contact charge resulting from an incident that occurred in the 15th minute of the game.  

Should the Club elect to enter an early guilty plea for Butcher’s charge, the second rower will be unavailable for one match. However, if found guilty at the judiciary, he will consequently be unavailable for two matches.  

Smith has been issued with a Grade One Careless High Tackle charge for an incident that occurred in the 76th minute of the match.

Should the Club elect to enter an early guilty plea for Smith’s charge, the hooker will receive a monetary fine of $3000. However, if the 26-year-old is found guilty at the judiciary, he will be unavailable for two matches.

Sydney Roosters has until Monday at 12pm to enter their pleas.
