The high-flying North Sydney Bears will remain at the top of the NSW Cup ladder for at least another two weeks following their thrilling 24-22 victory over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

North Sydney Bears

Hosting the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at North Sydney Oval on Sunday Afternoon, the Bears secured a 24-22 victory in a riveting match.

The Bears found themselves down 10-0 after 10 minutes, but managed to bring the game back to a six-point contest with a try to Junior Pauga.

Despite finding points, North Sydney couldn’t quite take control of the match, conceding twice more before the break to head into the sheds trailing 22-4.

They managed to pull off a gallant fightback in the second half, with a try in the 42nd minute to Jesse Marschke and two more to Pauga, placing them within two points of the Bulldogs with 20 minutes left to play.

Pauga completed his four-try haul , crossing to give his side a narrow 24-22 lead with just six minutes remaining, which they retained until full time.

Ipswich Jets

The Ipswich Jets hosted the Tweed Seagulls at North Ipswich Reserve in Round 10 of the Queensland Cup on Saturday afternoon, falling 54-14.

Both sides found early tries which left the Seagulls with a two-point advantage after seven minutes. The next 15 minutes were scoreless before Ioane Seiuli ran in back-to-back tries to place Tweed in the box seat.

They crossed the stripe twice more before half time, giving them a hefty 30-4 lead at the break.

The Jets came charging into the second half, scoring a try after just two minutes through winger Ricco Falaniko.

But the Seagulls were quick to take control, scoring four more tries including two more to Seiuli.

The perfect boot of Linton McGrady allowed Tweed to go up in sixes all afternoon, helping them finish the game with a convincing 54-14 buffer.

Glebe Dirty Reds

The Glebe Dirty Reds recorded a strong 34-20 victory over Mounties in the Ron Massey Cup at Aubrey Keech Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

Glebe found a 12-0 advantage with tries to Harrison McKeon and Riley Travers within the first 10 minutes, but Mounties clawed four points back just a minute later with winger Thomas Menzies crossing the stripe.

The Dirty Reds continued to pile on the points nonetheless, with both Joseph Taipari and Michael Coleman finding the line just six minutes after.

Mounties hit back with a try-scoring raid of their own, claiming points through Roman Ioelu, Haimona Hiroti and Lorenzo Mulitalo, who each scored in the span of just seven minutes to narrow the margin to four.

After a nine-minute stalemate, Glebe winger Johnathan Tufuga crossed for his side’s fifth try of the match.

They scored again just three minutes later through George Sukanaivalu, resulting in a 34-20 advantage which they maintained until the final siren.
