Round 9 Match Preview: Clash with the Cowboys

The Sydney Roosters will be hungry to bounce back with a win when they host the North Queensland Cowboys at Netstrata Jubilee Oval on Saturday evening.

Recent History: Sydney Roosters vs North Queensland Cowboys

The Sydney Roosters will meet the North Queensland Cowboys for the first time in history this weekend in an NRLW double-header.

Following a tough loss to the Knights in Round 8, the Tricolours will be determined to secure a top two finish with a victory on Saturday.

The Cowboys also enter the match following a disappointing loss to the Canberra Raiders last week and will be hunting their second win of the season having defeated the Knights back in Round 2.

How They Line Up

John Strange has made a number of changes to the line up this week, most notably naming two NRLW debutants.

Vice-captain Corban Baxter will again don the no.1 jersey, with Tyler Bentley and Brydie Parker on the wings and Jayme Fressard and Isabelle Kelly in the centres.

Tarryn Aiken and Jocelyn Kelleher continue their combination in the halves, while Millie Boyle is set to return in the front row alongside Keeley Davis and Teuila Fotu-Moala.

The back-row is unchanged, with Otesa Pule and Olivia Kernick named in the second row and Keilee Joseph rounding out the starting side at lock.

Grace Hamilton, Mya Hill-Moana and Joeli Morris join debutant Millicent Scutt on the interchange bench, while Pani Hopoate, Mia Wood, Lily Rogan, Lexi Kiriwi and Amelia Pasikala complete the line-up on the extended bench.

Key Match Up: Otesa Pule vs Bree Chester

Young powerhouse forwards Otesa Pule and Bree Chester go head-to-head in the second-row this week in what's lining up to be a brutal battle.

Pule has truly hit her straps for the Roosters this season, bagging four tries to give her team a welcomed boost on the scoreboard.

The rising star has also been a force in defence, making 131 tackles for an efficiency rating of 91.6%.

Joining the Cowboys after spending two seasons as a development player for Newcastle, Chester has been a regular for the Cowboys in their inaugural season.

The 21-year old has scored one try, made two line-breaks and two offloads to assist North Queensland in attack, backing up her efforts with hard-hitting defence making 214 tackles and an 85.3% efficiency rating.
