In Memoriam | John Higgins

The Sydney Roosters have been saddened to hear of the passing of former player John Higgins, on the 13th of November 2023 at age 65.

John, Rooster #704, began his rugby league journey as a Bondi United junior. Renowned for his speed as a winger and prowess as a goal kicker, he played a pivotal role in the Roosters' triumphant 1978 Presidents Cup Grand Final. This significant victory occurred under the captaincy of Bernie Gurr and the coaching of Paul Cross. John made his mark in first grade the next season, stepping in for Kerry Boustead in Round 18 after Boustead suffered a broken ankle.

The Sydney Roosters extend their deepest condolences to Mr Higgins’ family and friends during this sad time.
