Seniors Report Round 4: Flegg Punish Panthers

The Sydney Roosters' Jersey Flegg Cup side reversed their Round 1 result in the best way possible against the Penrith Panthers, while the NSW Cup side fought hard in their Round 4 battle.

NSW Cup Round 4 Highlights: Roosters vs Panthers

Jersey Flegg Cup | Roosters Exact Revenge on Panthers

Sydney Roosters 28 def Penrith Panthers 10

Just three weeks after facing one another in Round 1, the Sydney Roosters and Penrith Panthers did battle at Wentworth Park in Round 4, with the Tricolours exacting revenge in style with a 28-10 victory.

Despite their opponents scoring first after just five minutes, crafty hooker Alan Holten crossed for a quickfire double to give the Roosters a handy 12-6 lead going into the break.

Centre Kyron Fekitoa crashed over soon after half-time, while Christian Abal provided plenty of impact from the bench to extend the lead.

While the Panthers looked to make a late comeback, a second four-pointer to Abal sealed the result in the 60th minute, with the Roosters recording their second consecutive victory for 2024.

The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg Cup side will face the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Round 5 at Belmore Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon.

NSW Cup | Tricolours Tamed by Panthers

Sydney Roosters 14 def by Penrith Panthers 30

It was a disappointing outing for the NSW Cup Sydney Roosters, who were defeated by the Penrith Panthers 30-14 at Wentworth Park on Easter Sunday.

Their opponents quickly snatched a 12-nil lead in the opening stages, and while the Roosters struck back through winger-come-fullback Harry McKeon, the Panthers added a further two tries for a 22-6 lead at the break.

Centre Ethan Clark-Wood closed the deficit with a try upon resumption, but the Panthers' sole try of the second stanza coupled with a penalty goal was enough to claim victory, despite a late try to interchange forward Michael Coleman.

The Sydney Roosters' NSW Cup side will face the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon in Round 5.
