The Roosters made a statement with a huge win over ladder-leaders the Sharks, heading to PointsBet Stadium to post a 40-0 victory.

The Sharks have been the runaway leaders so far this season, but started the match on the wrong foot, losing the ball in their opening set thanks to some strong pressure from the Roosters who had come to play.

The visitors continued to set the tone of the match and scored four tries in the opening half, with power the name of the game early when Otesa Pule charged over in the fourth minute next to the left upright after some great lead-up play from skipper Isabelle Kelly.

Jocelyn Kelleher nails a 40/30

Their next try came to to Olivia Kernick after the Roosters showed off their strong kicking game, with a 40/30 giving them field position and a spiral bomb from Jocelyn Kelleher providing a wicked bounce for the defending Sharks, going over the head of fullback Cassie Staples for a chasing Kernick to collect and score.

Their third was a Sammy Bremner special, with her reputation seeing the Sharks hold off coming in on her as she ran across field, threatening to offload, but instead running towards the line to put the Roosters further in front in the 14th minute.

Samantha Bremner Try

The Sharks managed to steady the ship to slow the scoring against them, but only momentarily, with the Roosters not done yet in the opening half.

Their fourth was a full team effort, going from the right side of the field before eventually making it all the way out to the left sideline where Mia Wood touched down for her third try of the season.

While the Sharks had their best chance of scoring just before the halftime break, the Roosters defence held strong and they went to the sheds with an imposing 22-0 lead.

After the break, the Roosters were on the attack from the get-to, with Kernick chasing through on a kick and getting her hand to the ball before it went dead, but it was ruled a no try on the field and by the Bunker, with it deemed she did not have adequate control of the ball, denying her a double.

However, she set up her side's next try instead, running onto a Tarryn Aiken pass to bust through the line before throwing a fantastic pass out to her right to winger Wood who instead picked up her second.

Brydie Parker marked her injury return with a try after she was the next to score, while Kelly was rewarded for a big game when she went over for her side's seventh try late in the game.
