CLUB WEEKEND RESULTS – 22nd February, 2025

A mixed day for the five Roosters junior representative teams that played on Saturday with three wins and two losses. Both losing teams went down for the first time in 2025.

S.G. Ball Cup (Men’s Under 19s)

The Sydney Roosters S.G. Ball Cup team have suffered their first loss of the season, going down narrowly to the unbeaten Canberra Raiders 30-28 at Henson Park. The Roosters were dealt a cruel blow in the opening 30 seconds of the match when star prop Peter Benjamin Uini was ruled out of the game with concussion and the home side was left to play virtually the entire game without him. Both sides scored five tries with one missed conversion being the difference in the end between these two quality teams.

The Roosters were best served again by hooker and captain Jaxson Allen, whilst interchange prop Itula Seve, in his second match for the Club, impressed once more.

The Roosters take on Newcastle (one win, three losses) in Newcastle next Saturday as they attempt to return to the winner’s circle.

Harold Matthews Cup (Men’s Under 17s)

The Sydney Roosters Harold Matthews Cup team have advanced to third on the ladder after a convincing 34-0 victory over Penrith at Henson Park. Those Roosters supporters with long memories could not recall a bigger Roosters junior representative win against the Panthers.

Five eighth Charlie Webb had his best game of the season whilst prop Charlston Te Rore scored his third try of the year with some lovely footwork close to the line.

Meanwhile, the Central Coast Roosters have posted back-to-back wins after beating Western Suburbs 30-12 at Woy Woy on Saturday.

The passing game of hooker Jack Dean-Potaka was a significant contributor to the Roosters attack, whilst halfback and captain Carter Mareko was very solid, contributing 14 points through a try and 5 goals.

The Sydney Roosters next play Newcastle (two wins, two losses) at Wentworth Park on Saturday whilst the Central Coast Roosters play Balmain (two wins, two losses also) at Woy Woy on Saturday.

Tarsha Gale Cup (Women’s Under 19s)

The Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy had a bye this weekend. They will play South Sydney next Saturday at Woy Woy.

Lisa Fiaola Cup (Women’s Under 17s)

The Central Coast Roosters had a bye this weekend. They will also play South Sydney next Saturday at Woy Woy.

Laurie Daley Cup (Men’s Regional Under 18s)

The Central Coast Roosters Laurie Daley Cup team, after two narrow wins to start the season, have lost their Round 3 match 36-24 to the undefeated North Coast Bulldogs at Woy Woy.

Extraordinarily, 60 points were scored in the first half and zero points in the second. Winger Brodie Jeffreys continued his good try scoring try with another on Saturday, taking his season tally to five from three games, whilst five eighth Brok Elliott had some very nice touches for the home team.

Next Saturday the Roosters host the Northern Rivers Titan at Woy Woy. Both teams have two wins from three games this season.

Andrew Johns Cup (Men’s Regional Under 16s)

The Central Coast Roosters Andrew Johns Cup team stretched their unbeaten run to 103 weeks when they came from behind to defeat the North Coast Bulldogs 34-28 at Woy Woy.

Crowd pleasing Roosters left centre Allan Larder continued his try scoring streak, touching down for a sixth try through three rounds of the 2025 competition, whilst five eighth Tukia Fotu-Moala impressed again.

Next Saturday the Roosters return to Woy Woy to take on the Northern Rivers Titans, who lost their first match of the season in Round 3.
