The Sydney Roosters have been saddened to learn about the death of Roosters Player No. 530 Fred Strutt, at the age of 85, after years battling dementia.
Fred Strutt played 15 first grade games for the Roosters in 1963 after previously playing for St George in 1960, from where he played his junior football, and in Inverell in 1961 and 1962.
A five eighth and lock forward, Strutt played for Country Firsts in 1961 and captained Country Seconds in 1962. He moved back to the bush after his Sydney career and represented Riverina against the touring French team in 1964 and Southern Division against the touring Kiwis in 1967.
Fred Strutt is the father of former Illawarra Steelers second rower Darren Strutt. The Club wishes to pass on our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Fred Strutt.
