Sydney Roosters fans will have become accustomed to seeing 50-50 raffle ticket sellers at home games in 2025, and for the Round 21 home game against the Storm, the raffle will be supporting a very worthy cause – the Team Simon Foundation.
Working in conjunction with the team from 50-50 Charity Raffle, tickets are sold in a match day raffle with 50% of the prize pool awarded to a winner on the day and 50% to a nominated charity.
The Team Simon Foundation was founded in 2018 by Harry and Teresa Bazouni, inspired by their son Simon who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 17 months old.
Cystic Fibrosis is a cruel, invisible genetic disease that primarily attacks the lungs and digestive system and is the most common life-limiting genetic illness affecting Australians today.
Every four days, a child is born with Cystic Fibrosis and there is no cure.
Like many Australian families, the Bazouni’s were blindsided by the diagnosis and were told that Simon’s life would now be filled with daily treatments, hospital visits, a reduced life expectancy and the constant risk of infection.
The Team Simon Foundation was born from a decision to make a difference, not only for Simon, but for all children and families affected by Cystic Fibrosis.
The aim of Team Simon is to drive research, raise awareness, and accelerate real progress. So far over $2 million has been raised, directly supporting initiatives that improve the lives of those living with the genetic condition.
Roosters CEO, Joe Kelly, said the Club was proud to partner with Team Simon for the Round 21 home game against the Storm and implored all Roosters fans to get involved in this week’s 50-50 raffle.
“We became aware of the work of Team Simon through an association with our Chairman, Nick Politis, and we wanted to help this magnificent cause.” Kelly said.
“I’d encourage all Roosters fans, either coming to game or watching from home, to get involved in the 50-50 raffle. By getting involved you will be supporting a worthwhile charity and could even win a significant cash prize.”
