Sydney Roosters Captain James Tedesco Extends

The Sydney Roosters are thrilled to announce that captain and reigning Dally M Medallist James Tedesco has signed an extension, keeping him with the Tricolours until at least the end of 2027.

Currently ranked third on the Club’s list of all-time captains with 117 games (behind Jake Friend on 121 games and Brad Fittler on 199), Tedesco said he was proud to extend his time with the Roosters and continue leading a Club that feels like home.

“I’m incredibly proud to represent this Club and to continue leading a group of players who mean so much to me,” said Tedesco.

“The Roosters have played a huge role in my career and my life. Working with Robbo has pushed me to become a better player and person, and I’m grateful for the belief he’s always shown in me.

“I know we have a lot more to achieve together, and I’m excited for what’s still to come with this group. I’m committed to doing everything I can to help us get there,” he added.

Tedesco capped a stellar 2025 season by being named the Dally M Medallist, Captain of the Year, and Fullback of the Year. He also claimed the Jack Gibson Medal – the Roosters’ highest individual honour – for a record seventh time.

Roosters Head Coach Trent Robinson paid tribute to Tedesco’s influence and the example he continues to set as both captain and competitor.

“I’ve been fortunate to coach some outstanding players, and James stands right alongside the very best. He’s been central to our Club’s identity for almost a decade, and his drive to keep evolving makes him such a special leader and person,” said Robinson.

“Ted embodies what it means to be a Rooster. He leads through his actions, demands excellence of himself and those around him, and is always looking for ways to get better, so it’s great that we’ll continue to benefit from his experience and example,” he added.
