Roosters NRLW Program Sets the Benchmark with RLPA Player Survey Results

The Sydney Roosters NRLW program continues to set the standard across the competition, with sustained success on the field matched by strong player endorsement off it, reinforcing the Club’s position as the game’s leading women’s programs.

Since the foundations of the NRLW, the Roosters have established themselves as a powerhouse of the competition. Under the guidance of Head Coach John Strange, the Roosters NRLW program has become synonymous with competitive excellence, with high-performing teams built through elite development, clear standards and strong support across football, performance and wellbeing, translating into premiership success and regular Grand Final appearances.

Beyond silverware, Strange’s leadership has played a pivotal role in shaping an environment where players are supported, challenged and empowered, all reflected strongly in the latest RLPA Players’ Pulse survey results.

Player Endorsed Environment
The 2025 Players’ Pulse survey, conducted by the Rugby League Players Association, saw the Sydney Roosters NRLW program perform strongly across key categories that matter most to players.

The Club received top performing results in several critical areas, including:

High Performance Staffing, recognising the quality and professionalism of the football and performance staff
Workplace Environment, highlighting respect, values and day-to-day standards
Family Support and Services, acknowledging the Club’s efforts to support players beyond football
Cultural Safety, where players reported feeling respected, included and comfortable expressing their cultural identity
Wellbeing and Education, reinforcing the Club’s commitment to holistic player development

“We are pleased that the Roosters have been recognised at the top of the RLPA’s player survey rankings in the NRLW competition.” Added Sydney Roosters chief executive Joe Kelly.

“It’s a reflection of the standards we set as a club and the outstanding work John Strange (NRLW Head Coach), Chontelle Balbi (Wellbeing & Education Manager) and their staff do to provide an environment where our NRLW players can perform at their best and continue to improve.

“The Roosters have always prided ourselves on being a high-performance club on and off the field. That starts with the people, the programs and the support we put around our players so they have every opportunity to succeed.”

Importantly, the survey also provides clear areas for continued improvement, insights the Club welcomes as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening the program and lifting standards across all areas of the football department.

Built on performance, accountability and player trust, the Sydney Roosters NRLW program is well positioned to continue delivering success as the competition evolves.
